Bunny massage

Cocoa the bunny is a very lively rabbit, but doesn’t like to be picked up, and so would never get a cuddle if he had everything his own way :-(

We have up until now satisfied ourselves with bribing him with a kale leaf or piece of apple in return for a stroke.

Then we started picking him up (against his will!), and putting his head under an armpit while stroking him - as shown by our vet, which helps calm him down long enough for a snuggle.

Mike has built on this by realising that he loves to have his head rubbed and stroked - around his jaw, between his eyes and ears in particular. Hence Bunny Massage! This relaxes him enough to stay still for a stroke, plus he doesn’t mind being picked up afterwards.
