Nature

Our garden is a small end of terrace garden in Seaford, East Sussex.
Luckily, we have lots of cover for birds ,and there are about 4 nests which are being used for repeat broods throughout the summer. We are awoken by seagulls every morning, which reminds me of childhood holidays every morning, having been brought up in landlocked Surrey! We also love to watch birds at Mike’s parents home in Ashburnham near Battle - they get more variety than us, being surrounded by fields..
We have many bees of a surprising range of shapes and sizes.
There is a frog living in a plant saucer, a hedgehog and mice living in the compost heap.

The hedgehog did not want to be photographed! We first noticed it at the beginning of July when it got stuck in the fence. We left water out for it, and have seen it most days since. I think they eat slugs and snails, and there are plenty of those in our garden - we don’t use slug pellets.
I tried lying in wait for it one night, but of course it didn’t show on cue! Note - as of 6th August, haven’t seen it for a few days.
